Frequently Asked Questions

Microblading is form of tattooing

Unlike a regular tattoo, "microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. I draw hair-like strokes with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows.

How long do your eyebrows last once you get microblading?

There are many factors that contribute to the duration of your microblading brows. Aspects such as aftercare, the condition of your skin, the oiliness of your skin and your daily routine can all affect how long your microblading lasts. Taking these into account, your new eyebrows can last any where from 6-18 months. Yearly top ups are required there after.

How long does the treatment take to get done?

You will need two treatments, both lasting up to 2 hours long. Your second treatment must be carried out 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment. The final result isn’t determined until you have had your second treatment and you have surpassed the full healing period of 4-6 weeks.

Is microblading painful?

The treatment can be a little uncomfortable for those who are more sensitive. However, there is a topical numbing agent applied during the treatment to keep this to a minimum to where it is completely comfortable for our clients.

What do I need to know before and after the procedure to prepare for the treatment?
Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before treatment.

After your brows are complete there is vey little redness. For 72 hours post treatment you will need to wash your brows with sterile water (boiled water that is cooled) to keep them clean. We will provide you with an aftercare cream to help the healing and protection for your brows. You will need to keep them free from make up for 7 days but can use make up around the area just not letting it sit too close to the brow. Following correct aftercare is essential!

What is the microblading healing process like?

After your treatment, your brows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. True reflection of the healed colour can only be assessed 4-5 weeks after the initial treatment. Immediately after the procedure the pigment is still sitting on the top layers of the skin and has not yet settled completely. The colour of the pigment will soften gradually.
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place it will look like dry flaking skin. This might give you the impression that the pigment is fading too quickly. However this is just superficial colour and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. Your eyebrows will be the lightest tones during days 7-12 because the colour is being absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. The skin cells then resurface back up to the upper layers of the skin which is when the pigment is pronounced again.

What happens during the top up (second treatment)?

The touch up is recommended 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment. During your follow-up appointment we will fill in missing hair strokes. It is in this treatment we will add or make hair longer to achieve the ideal shape. This also helps us achieve depth in the colour. You will require a top up treatment in 4-6 weeks, if you fail to attend your follow-up appointment within 6 weeks your results will fade and you will be charged at the full rate on your next appointment!

What happens if I complete my brow procedure and I wish I had of built my eyebrows out further or darker?

With our all our consultation stages we explain the possibility of this to our clients and if they are reluctant to build their brows out too much on the first or second pass we are happy to add an additional third session in to treatment plan for an additional cost. Prices can vary as it depends on the amount of work and time that the third session will require.

Is everyone that doesn’t have contraindications to the treatment a suitable candidate for microblading?

Some clinics or salons will preform microblading on all types of brows, including those that just require a tint or shape monthly. It is against our professional ethics here at Links Of Beauty to preform a microblading treatment on clients who do not require semi-permanent makeup. We do offer a consultation to everyone, however if we think their is a possibility to restore your natural brows within twelve months, we will devise a regrowth treatment plan as apposed to an appointment for microblading.

Microblading is an investment. Whilst lower priced services/treatments are available, we caution against visiting inexperienced and unqualified technicians.
