Frequently Asked Questions

Is SPMU a form of tattooing?

Yes it is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a machine

How long does SPMU last?

There are many factors that contribute to the duration of your semi-permanent makeup. Aspects such as aftercare, the condition of your skin, the oiliness of your skin and your daily routine can all affect how long your semi-permanent makeup lasts. Taking these into account, your new semi-permanent makeup can last any where up to 5 years although annual colour boosts maybe required there after.

How long does the treatment take to get done?

You will need two treatments, both lasting up to 2 hours long. Your second treatment must be carried out 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment. The final result isn’t determined until you have had your second treatment and you have surpassed the full healing period of 4-6 weeks.

Is SPMU painful?

The treatment can be a little uncomfortable for those who are more sensitive. However, there is a topical numbing agent applied during the treatment to keep this to a minimum to where it is completely comfortable for our clients.

What do I need to know before and after the procedure to prepare for the treatment?
Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before treatment.

After your semi-permanent makeup is complete there is vey little redness. For 72 hours post treatment you will need to wash your treated area with sterile water (boiled water that is cooled) to keep area/s clean. We will provide you with an aftercare product to help the healing and protection for your treated area. You will need to keep the treated area/s free from make up for 7 days but can use make up around the area just not letting it sit too close to the treated area/s. Following correct aftercare is essential!

What is the SMPU healing process like?

After your treatment, your treated area/s will go through several phases during the healing cycle. True reflection of the healed colour can only be assessed 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. Immediately after the procedure the pigment is still sitting on the top layers of the skin and has not yet settled completely. The colour of the pigment will soften gradually.
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place it will look like dry flaking skin. This might give you the impression that the pigment is fading too quickly. However this is just superficial colour and dry skin being naturally removed from the area that has been treated. Your SPMU will be the lightest tones during days 7-12 because the colour is being absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin. The skin cells then resurface back up to the upper layers of the skin which is when the pigment is pronounced again.

What happens during the top up (second treatment)?

The touch up is recommended 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment. During your follow-up appointment we will fill in missing pigment. You will require a follow-up treatment in 4-6 weeks, if you fail to attend your follow-up appointment within 6 weeks your results will fade and you will be charged at the full rate on your next appointment!

SPMU is an investment. Whilst lower priced services/treatments are available, we caution against visiting inexperienced and unqualified technicians.
